Wednesday

Wednesday has been a good day. I woke up, went to school, specifically to orchestra, and today we set up the stage for the middle school orchestra concert. We pushed drums around the stage, rearranged timpanis, and counted an enormous amount of chairs. After that, we played on the stage. I love playing on the stage because everything sounds so much more beautiful there. And I like when I'm on stage before everyone else, or after, and I can sit on a huge stage, just me, and look into this cavernous, gaping space. Sitting in an empty theatre connects you to the world in a way little else does. Latin was pretty amazing because we were translating today and I am much faster at translating than the majority of my class so Magister K. lets me work ahead at my own pace. We translated through the whole hour and it was amazing. Then I went to Math. I didn't like it, but the section we did today was review, so it wasn't particularly difficult.
World History was awesome as usual. We took a quiz and I did great, and we talked about Saudi Arabia. On Wednesdays, I leave the school after World History to drive for about an hour to my advanced English class. Dad was waiting for me when I went outside, and we drove off. They were paving the stretch of road right around the highway, and a bridge was being ripped up on the route, and there were about six other construction stretches, so I was late. It was okay though. Today we presented projects in groups. My groups' presentation went amazingly! Then we practiced our storytelling in groups. The storytelling is an exercise where you think of a story with a beginning, middle and end with clear stakes, and tell it in front of class, improvising as you go. It cannot be memorized, but you need to know what to say. I am talking about a trip to Mount Rushmore. Then I got back in the car and went home.
Dad and I were listening to the radio, and we had a nice talk about music when Budapest by George Ezra came on. He likes that song, and I am happy because it's one of my favorites. We then talked about the Beatles, and classic rock, and Surfin' Bird and a bunch of other stuff. It made me happy. Then I went to the middle school orchestra concert. In addition to playing the violin, my sister played the harp! She was amazing and so was everyone else. I sat next to C because her brother, G, was playing in the concert as well. And, the middle school orchestra teacher who has been on maternity leave since about Jan. came to watch the concert with her three kids. They were so adorable, particularly A, the middle child, because she is two and doesn't understand that she needed to be quiet. Mom held the baby, H. It was an amazing concert, and I came home to do my math homework, write a blog post and now go to sleep. It was a great day!

Chorus of the Day!

Well, the lampshade's on fire when the lights go out
This is what I really call a party now
Well, fear makes us really, really run around
Ah, this one's done so where to now?
