An Ode to Classical Music

An ode in the style of Pablo Neruda, written while waiting to go on at my Youth Orchestra Concert.

Ode to Classical Music
Once
I held a
cello
and I cried
because I could make you,
music that held me
in my cradle,
that comforts me
in my sadness,
my anger,
my joy
and I
let you
witness
my triumphs,
make you see
my glory.
And
my best
moments
occur
when I am
creating you.
You deserve
more than marks on
paper.
You deserve
life,
a life only
sound
can bring.
You, music,
are only
fully imaginable
when
you
are
heard.
And so I
hear you,
and I
long to
hear you
when
I do not.

Music
will
save
us
all.

Chorus of the Day!

But I still wake up, I still see your ghost
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure, what I stand for oh oh oh
What do I stand for? Oh what do I stand for?
Most nights, I don't know anymore
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa oh oh
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa oh oh

Last Chorus of the Day:
Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi
