Space: The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

The beginning of one of the most amazing science fiction series of all time. You may remember one of these pictures from an earlier post on never being in the same place twice. Here is the entire photo set. You'll want to take a minute.

There, you've had your minute. The universe is so large and amazing that it is impossible for humans to understand even a small fraction of it. We are tiny grains of sand on a beach impossibly large, next to an ocean an unfathomable amount of times larger. The ocean is, of course, dark matter and dark energy. The universe we can see is infinite, but it is a tiny fraction of the universe we cannot see. The observable universe and the rest of the universe we could conceivably see and all of the universe it is physically impossible for us to see is more than infinite. It is so large that infinity is not large enough to describe it. It is so large that ten thousand infinities would not describe it. It is so large that it is mathematically impossible to express its size. And this universe, it is made of particles so small, most do not have a size. Or do not exist at all.

     What happens if the universe ends?

      Nothing.

       Nothing will happen; nothing will ever happen. Hold on, nothing will not happen. Nothing implies that there is something that nothing is not. There will be emptiness, but not emptiness. There will literally be no space, no time. There will be an absence, but not an absence. An absence implies a presence. There are no words to describe it. It cannot even be imagined.
