OMG! It's a Religious Holiday! ...That Isn't All That Religious Anymore

So, since my American School System post happened recently, I just figured I should line up controversial topics and shoot 'em down. So here we go!
Now I am a Christian. I think... My parents are Christians, and I go through phases. Like right now, I'm fairly certain I'm an atheist. But I don't think that's the best way to describe me. I'm more of a... I haven't devoted enough thought to this issue to know. Like it's not that I don't believe in God, but I don't not believe in Him either. So maybe I'm an agnostic, but that doesn't fully describe me either. Like I believe that there could be a God, and that people who believe in God have a God. I think for me, it's that He exists if you believe he exists. Like, because someone prays to Him, he exists for that person. Oh and this goes for any god, not just the Christian one. So maybe I believe in all gods, and maybe I believe in none. Just put me in the category of 'extremely confused' and leave it at that.
I don't want to insult Christians or anything, but all the major holidays have been commercialized. Except maybe Pentecost. Poor Pentecost... :( But, there's Easter and Christmas, and I guess Valentine's Day because that is supposed to celebrate Saint Valentine who was beheaded or something a long time ago. Let me look that up...

"St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several martyrdom stories were invented for the various Valentines that belonged to February 14, and added to later martyrologies. A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire."
~From Wikipedia

So, yes, Valentine's Day is technically a Christian holiday. That's three major American holidays that have been commercialized. There are plenty of people in the world who are not Christians and celebrate these holidays. Like every person in America who isn't Christian, for starters. They've become less than they were intended to be. Christmas was the day Jesus was born and then he grew up to free the world from sin. And Easter was the day when Jesus FREAKING ROSE FROM THE DEAD! I just don't feel that they get enough credit besides the external gratitude of capitalism. I mean, there do non-Christians feel the same symbolic meaning associated with the holiday, or do you just celebrate because everyone else does? I mean, for me it's a little of both. I feel like holidays are one of the few times I actually, 100%, true blue believe in God. Because on those days, He just seems more omnipresent than normal.
Also, is it just me, or is it weird that only Christian holidays are commercialized? Like sure, it's one of the most followed religions in the world, but there are no other holidays I know of that are derived from religious holidays. Let me check...

"Epiphany, Orthodox Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras/Ash Wednesday, Saint Patrick's Day, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, EasterHalloween, Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary(?), Christmas, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah, Holi, Diwali, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Kwanzaa..."

I've underlined the holidays that I have heard of, and bolded those I mentioned above. I also noticed the sad omission of Pentecost. Poor Pentecost... :(

Here Pentecost, have a picture! :)
In case you couldn't tell, Pentecost is my favorite religious holiday. It is the birthday of the Christian Church. I think...

"Pentecost is the Greek name for the Feast of Weeks, a prominent feast in the calendar of ancient Israel celebrating the giving of the Law on Sinai. This feast is still celebrated in Judaism as Shavuot. Later, in the Christian liturgical year, it became a feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ (120 in all), as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1–31. For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described by some Christians today as the 'Birthday of the Church'."

Yay Pentecost!
So Easter's approaching, and it seems that people will be just as blithely capitalist as usual. And I think I'm okay with that. To each his own! I am going to go celebrate the fact that Jesus has a whole bunch in common with the box-standard zombie and wait eagerly for Pentecost!

Chorus of the Day!

all my life I've been living in the fast lane
can't slow down
I'm a rollin' freight train
one more time
gotta start all over
can't slow down
I'm a lone red rover

Last Chorus of the Day:
Drunk on Love by The Wanted
