Road Trip 2015 - Day 5 - Driving, Devil's Tower & Little Bighorn

We woke up in the cabin once again, to see that Mom and Dad had packed the car whilst we were sleeping. We loaded up our own stuff, got in the car, and went for donuts at Glazed and Dazed again. I sat in the car, and noticed that there was a statue of a dinosaur on the nearby hill.

Then, we drove all the way to Devil's Tower and took some pictures. None of us felt like hiking so we got back in the car and drove to Little Bighorn.

Little Bighorn was cool. It was basically a big graveyard, but it was amazing to see where history happened. There was a cool art installation, and the museum was great. I didn't take any pictures because, as I've said, there were mostly only graves.
Dad drove for a while, then I drove. Then, Dad drove the rest of the way to the Bozeman KOA. We had Domino's again, and finally managed to drag everything into the cabin by 11:30. I must have fallen asleep around 1.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

Road Trip 2015 - Day 4 - Custer State Park & Mount Rushmore

We woke up, and A, J, B and Dad went to a donut place called Glazed and Dazed in Rapid City. The donuts were quite good and I had two glazed. I took a shower while they were gone, and then, we headed for Custer State Park. We went up Needles Highway before we went on the Wildlife Loop. Needles Highway was extremely scary and extremely high. I am quite afraid of heights so I had a mild panic attack, and A took a lot of my pictures for me. I huddled in the car and tried to forget the world. (Where does this come from? It's a song, I think. A says it comes from everywhere.)

At the top of Needles Highway, we turned and headed to Sylvan Lake. We saw a family of ducks, five babies and one mama, and followed them for a while before we went swimming in the lake. We found a bunch of quartz and other cool rocks on the bottom of the lake and collected them. The coolest thing about the water was that it was filled with tiny flakes of mica, which made the water sparkle.

Then, we went on the Wildlife Loop and saw burros, pronghorn, white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, prairie dogs, and one lone buffalo at the very end.

Burros! You can feed them, and they'll come right up to the car.

Trees?

Probably a deer on the treeline, but I can't see it.

After the Wildlife Loop, we drove through the mountains and saw Mount Rushmore one last time, from a distance. We also saw another deer.

Then, we went to the Purple Pie Place and had pie, which became our dinner. Mom and Dad did laundry at the campsite while the kids slept.

Road Trip 2015 - Day 3 - Rapid City, Mount Rushmore & Custer State Park

We woke up in the Rapid City KOA and headed to the camp breakfast. They had the most amazing pancakes, passable bacon, and good eggs. But the pancakes, the pancakes were amazing! We hung out at the cabin for a while, reading, minecrafting, other electronicing, and getting ready to go. Finally, Dad announced that we had to load up the car, so we did. We were going to see the Presidents!
If you didn't know, Rapid City calls itself the City of the Presidents because businesses around the city sponsor the creation of a statue for each president. There are forty-two right now. Obama's statue has been made, but they cannot put it out until his term is over. This custom started with Nixon. Everyone had named schools after him, and then he resigned. They renamed the schools.
On to the pictures! Each is captioned with the name and number of the President.

We went over to Sanford's Grub and Pub to eat. The place is plastered with pictures, license plates and other things. The edges of the rooms are packed with statues and there are at least two old cars hanging from the ceiling. The portions are normal but they are served on platters that are at least three times bigger than necessary. After Sanford's we bought Presidential Sodas at the City of the President's Information Center and headed to Mount Rushmore.
There was a zero percent chance of precipitation. So it rained and hailed. But we still had fun, and got some pictures!

Bunny, on the forest trail

We walked down the forest trail, where we saw the bunny and then drove to Custer along the super scenic pigtail road. The beautiful view:

We saw pretty much nothing at Custer. I took a picture of some plants.

Then, as we were driving back to the cabin, we saw a surprise!

Mama and Baby Goat

Baby likes the woods.

We ate hot dogs at the cabin and went to sleep.

Chorus of the Day!

Oh Nina
You should go Nina
'Cause I ain't never coming home
In a road, won't you leave me now
And I've been living on the road Nina
And then again you should know Nina
'Cause that's you and me
Both in a road, won't you leave me now
Now
